According to a recent search engine study by comScore, YouTube video searches account for a quarter of all Google search queries in the U.S. According to the report, released Thursday night, if YouTube were a standalone site, it would be the second largest search engine after Google. In other words, more searches are done through YouTube than through Yahoo.

“YouTube continues to be a standout contributor for Google generating 2.73bn searches in the U.S., up 8.5% from 2.52bn last month and up 114% from 1.28bn in November 2007,” wrote Thomas Weisel Partners analyst Christa Quarles in the report. “YouTube currently represents 25.4% of U.S. Google site searches compared with 17.4% in November 2007 and is larger than all of Yahoo based on total U.S. queries in November.”

So keep watching those video, kiddies! Your makin’ those YouTube staffers very, very rich!
